Of Byzantine origin , but widespread all over mid- , west-and east Europe . Eleven  eagle heads do not

only beautify this belt buckle with hinged plate , they also make it more "powerful" . The eagle was the

symbol of power , freedom and nearness to god . A connection to the famous eagle brooches can be

assumed . Please look at the fine eagle head on the shield on tongue !

The buckle has flaps at the backside and can be  sewed with the  leather or it can be  secured by small

bolts (included) . No rivets needed .
