Floral belt buckle
An openwork belt buckle with floral decorations . The old Greeks had this ornaments on their drinking
vessels and cups . The pampre , vine tendrils and vine leaves have been the symbol for joy , celebrations ,
hospitality but also for dionysian orgies and bacchanalias .
The buckle dates from the 7. - 10 century A.D. It is of byzantine origin , but was popular and was worn in
whole Europe . So it is ok for early medieval as well as for viking reenactors .
The buckle has flaps at the backside and can be sewed with the leather or it can be secured by small
bolts (included) . No rivets needed .
